First Open 24-5

First competition of the season ably judged by Sue Freeman with many informative comments about composition.

Sue did a fine job despite a glitch which meant that the images were not in the expected order.

In the colour competition Cathy Rigby took the prize with her Village of Vespa’s triptych, beating off strong competition from the excellent bird photographs. Deborah Shackleton’s Long Horned Cow beat A Lizard by Andy Dunford to take the mono trophy (if we’d organised the trophies). And Duncan Reid won digital image with his picture The Bishop Calls pipping Colin Hoose’s Washing His Nuts. Congratulations to the winners.

It was a nice strong cup of tea made by Steve Lang and there were fancy cakes to go with the usual biscuits.
